The Media is Full of Bologna!!!
The media has scared our world into believing we are the cause of global warming. This is preposterous, I have found research that states 95% of the green house effect is natural. If the tightest controls are put on environmental standards, the effect on green house emissions would be minimal. The media's hype makes people feel that our future is in jeopardy and the future of our children's world. For millions of years the world has gone through climate cycles, some more noticable and severe than others. What if the dinosaurs extinction was not a meteor's fault, but was part of a severe cooling cycle of the earth. Now I'm not saying that we should do absolutely nothing about our environment. There are benifits of recycling and keeping our airs clean. However the cost of going green can hurt your pocket book. Sometimes I feel the media is profiting some how from all the "green" products. If they really want us to recycle more, they would offer recycling pickup at every house, then maybe people would sort their garbage and recycle, thus cutting down on pollution. But quit trying to scare people into believing they will change the earth's temperature.

Media can be a very powerful tool influencing us to think certain ways, However, I do not understand how with the millions of cars and factories that are around the world that they only contribute to 5% of the green house effect. I would like to see the research you have found to support this, because with how fast our population has grown, along with the industrial expansion we have seen I do not understand how we can only be responsible for 5% of the problem.
ReplyDeleteNot a problem, I found a lot of good facts at www.isthereglobalwarming.com with links.
ReplyDeleteOne link that states natural causes are the main cause of CO2 emmisions is:

I believe mass media can influence people and that global wamrming can be part of natural cycle, but I also believe that we are accelerating that cycle and we are responsable for put out of order our environment.
ReplyDeleteI basically agreed with global warming because I saw it or heard about it on the news. I never really looked into because I am not sure if I really cared. So naturally when we had to write about it I was in favor of the green movement and researched a little bit to make my first blog and then I realized that like everything else there are two sides to every story and I am NOT in favor of the one Al Gore supports. I think that in this day in age people are looking to be a part of something and the "green movement" is the easiest thing for them to take part in without really having to do anything at all and that all the companies are profitting from it.
ReplyDeleteI pretty much agree with everything that your saying...the media has always and will always try and make things look like a bigger deal than they actually are just because their trying to get better ratings. Yes, it is important for the public to know about what's going on with our planet...but do they really have to make it out to be such a terrible thing. The media makes the public think that we're all going to blow up tommorrow.
ReplyDeleteI think it is kind of interesting that not to long ago , our former president was for the most part a naysayer of Global Warming. He made shotty campaign's to reduce emmisions, he didnt follow through with his plans and going green was at the bottom of the list when it came to politics. NRDC was trying to sue the Bush Administration for putting off declaring polar bears as a endangered species.why because he wanted to drill for oil where the polar bears natural habitat was , which would destroy the few ice the polar bear has. So its kind of ironic now that the president isn't going towards drilling the polar bear habitat , but instead trying to save the whole enviroment from going under. Which leads to my point that maybe Global Warming is doing much more than we think considering Obama is asking big buisness to put caps on their pollutinous power plants; instead of asking our enviroment to suffer, so we don't have to get oil from other countries.
ReplyDeleteI understand the irony that Bush comes from an oil back ground and wanted to drill for oil. Facts are that the artic ice is growing not decreasing. Polar bears are increasing in number and not decreasing. Animal instict makes animals adapt to new environments. Look at our communities, do you see raccoons declining in number because of housing developments or how about deer? Obama may be making huge claims and strides to protect us from the evil global warming that is not happening, but just in the last week or so he flew in Marine One to camp David for 1 night. Is this not a was of gas and CO2 emmissions? Think of the heating that went into the house/mansion (again for 1 night stay) along with all the cars for the secret service and other personnel to drive out there. So if a President would like to show me he is eco-friendly he will need to do more than policy corporations, he needs to lead by example.
